Project Pet is a 501(c)(3) community-based, people/pet project founded by volunteers from four local animal welfare organizations who have joined together to humanely reduce pet overpopulation in the Midlands through innovative, pro-active programs.
By supporting Project Pet, you can provide medical care for our community's abandoned pets. And by contributing to Project Pet's building fund for a community no-kill pet shelter/adoption center, you will give these homeless animals hope for a better tomorrow.
Our goals are to...
. Increase pet ownership and retention
. Develop comprehensive community spay/neuter programs that reach out to all areas
. Build a no-kill companion pet shelter/adoption center in Columbia, South Carolina
. Ensure that every pet who gets lost has a free ticket back home
. Develop programs to care for sick and injured companion pets
. Develop pet/people therapy programs throughout the community
. Find uninformed owners and intervene with appropriate education and assistance before their pets become history
. Curtail amateur and backyard breeding
. Initiate educational programs that define the problem, prioritize the resources, and find the solutions
. Propose animal legislation to protect companion pets.
